FIRST MEN TEAM
Team Background

New York City Team Handball Club was formed in 1973.  It was composed of immigrants, temporary workers of United Nation and anybody who wanted to practice and learn this sport. Our meetings were held in the United Nation school gym. From the beginning our club carried men as well as women teams. Loyalty, enthusiasm and friendship let the club grow. In 1992 the team moved to Brooklyn, and in 2007 we expanded in New York City.

We are a non-profit-organization. Our goal is to educate, and inform as many new players about the benefits this game brings. Our team competes every year in the US Open Championship, and also in five other tournaments in US where we play against the top teams of US and Canada. In the past three years NYCTHC has had it’s shares of successes. In 2007 we became the US National Champions, and at the same time we defended the title of North East Team Handball Conference play-offs. Both results were huge successes for our team.

In 2009 US National Championship we defended our title by winning all six games. We are the best team handball club in the nation with a young, talented, diverse and dedicated group of members. We intend to continue with our successes, and develop more talent so New York City can have an impact in promoting team handball in US.

New York City is all about different cultures living together, and New York City Team Handball Club is the epitome of what New York represents. We have people joining from all over the world (Poland, Estonia, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosova, France, Switzerland, Argentina, Japan, Netherlands, Turkey, Brasil, Spain, Germany, Ukraine,  China), which helps us learn more about each others culture. It’s a place where diversity rules.

NYC Team Handball Club practices every Tuesday and Saturday starting from mid-September to the last Tuesday in May, and last Saturday in June. We schedule competitions throughout the year. Our major tournaments begin after October.
