Next Stop, 33rd Annual West Point Invitational Tournament

After a great weekend in New York City we head out to the 33rd Annual West Point Invitational Team Handball Tournament  which takes place at the US Military Academy, West Point on 16-17 January 2010.  Twelve teams are participating this year with three teams coming from Canada.  The tournament will begin with pool play on Saturday, 16 Jan 2010

 

The groups are as follow:

Pool A: Levis (Quebec), WP Black, Alberta Jr., USA -21 Select

Pool B: New York City, Chicago, New England Freeze, West Point Gold

Pool C: Alberta Sr., NY Athletic Club, Air Force, North Carolina

Our playing schedule for Saturday is as follows:

930AM - NYCTH vs. West Point Gold

1230PM - NYCTH vs. Boston Freeze

1530PM - NYCTH vs. Chicago Inter

Every team will play round robin in their pool. Placement within each pool will be determined by W-L record. Team earn two points for a win and one point for a tie. Tiebreaker will be by point differential. The top teams make it to the elimination round. The top two 2nd place teams from the three pools will "play-in" for the 4th semifinal slot on Saturday night. The 7th, 9th,&11th place games will be played Saturday night as well. On Sunday, the final four, 3rd&5th place, and championships will be played. Every team is assured of playing 4 games, with the top four playing at least five, and possibly 6 games (3-4 on Sat, 2 on Sun). The final match will be held at 1530 on Sunday.

- USATH will sanction the event and help coordinate the officiating

- All games will be played on a regulation size court&goals

- Games will be 25 min halves with a 7-min half time and one timeout per half.
