The first international team handball tournament in New York City, The Big Apple Championship, started early today at the Park West HS with defending US National Champions, New York City THC playing against Korschtal. 

The defending champions played a solid game and started the tournament with a win 27:15. It was a slow start but with some adjustments New York settled down, and finished strong. This win ensured that New York City THC secured the spot in the semifinals.

Second game was between Stuttgart and Medialine 2. Stuttgart was dominant during the entire game, and the winner was never in question.  Stuttgart won easy 32-18.

In the third game of the day Medialine 1 beat Korschtal 28-16, and secured it's place to the semi-final. Medialine 1 played against New York City THC for the top spot in the Blue Group, and fell short by 4 goals. With this victory New York City THC secured first place in the Blue Group.

The strongest team from Germany, Teamsport played it's two games of the day later in the day at 5PM, and also at 7PM.  Having assembled a group of players from second Bundesliga, and mixed with recreational players Teamsport fell to Stuttgart team in their first game of the tournament. 
However, against Medialine 2 they were able to get their act together and finish strong by demolishing the opponent.

Present in this event were the president of USATH, Dieter Esch, the general manager of USATH Steve Pastorino, the CEO of Snapsports Dan Wollman, and all the Bundesliga All-stars, Lovgren, Hens, Fritz, Vranjes and the rest of the handball all-stars.

Tomorrow the first game of the day is the game for fifth and six place, between Korschtal and Medialine 2 which starts at 9:45AM. 

The first semi-final starts at 1045AM, and it's between New York City THC and Teamsport. This game will be a great battle, and we look forward to prove once more that New York City has a strong team that can compete against anyone.

In the second semi-final Stuttgart will play Medialine 1, and that game starts at 1145M.

The big spectacle of the day is the anticipated game between Bundesliga All-stars against New York City Team Handball Club which starts at 1PM.
