This past weekend New York City THC achieved another great success by winning it's second consecutive title at the West Point Invitational Tournament. After going undefeted in group play against West Point Gold, New England Freeze, and Chicago, our opponent in the semifinal game was the team from Canada, Alberta.
New York took control of the game from the first minute, and finished strong by winning 22:16.
The second finalist was decided between the Canadian National Champions Levis, Quebec and Chicago Inter. After a hard fought battle, and after playing four games on Saturday, Chicago Inter was able to surprise last years finalist of West Point tournament by winning 20:18.
In the championship game both teams started a little slow, but slowly picked up the intensity especially on defense. First half finished with a soccer game score of 4:2 for Chicago Inter. Goalkeepers on both sides were spectacular. However, in the second half with their intense defense and fastbreaks New York City THC was able to finish Chicago by beating them 14:9, and for the second consecutive year win the West Point Invitational title.
The Canadian National Champions, Levis beat Alberta 24:21, and finished 3rd while West Point Black beat University of North Carolina 28:18 for 5th place.
NYAC took 7th place after beating New England Freeze 21:19. Air Force easily finished USA Select team 28:18 and ranked 9th, and for 11th place Alberta Junior beat West Point Gold 31:28.
This was a well organized tournament by USATH and West Point. Big thanks to Maj. Adam Hodges, his players and all the supporting staff for organizing a great event.
